Membership with The Alliance Against Sexual Violence (The Alliance) connects you and your organization to a community of professionals working together to prevent sexual violence and strengthen support for survivors across New York State.

We’re here to support you and your organization. As a member, you’ll gain opportunities to learn, collaborate, and stay informed while connecting to your peers. This membership tier is for New York State-certified rape crisis programs seeking training, advocacy, resources, and opportunities to collaborate with peers across the state.
Rape Crisis Program (RCP) Member
For New York State-certified rape crisis programs seeking comprehensive training, technical assistance, advocacy, resources, and opportunities to collaborate with peers across the state. RCP Members receive The Alliance’s fullest level of organizational support and have a voice in the governance and direction of the statewide coalition.
Members receive the following benefits:
Policy Updates & Legislative Information: Stay informed about legislation, funding, regulations, and policy developments affecting sexual violence prevention and response in New York State. The Alliance provides timely information and context to help members understand emerging issues, what they may mean for their work and communities, and opportunities to engage in advocacy when appropriate.
Public Resources: Access practical resources developed or curated by The Alliance, including resource guides, fact sheets, educational materials, and other information related to sexual violence prevention, survivor support, and the work of rape crisis programs. These resources are designed to help organizations, professionals, advocates, and community members find reliable information and put it into practice.
Toolkits*: Access in-depth collections of practical tools, templates, guidance, and other materials designed to help organizations implement effective approaches to sexual violence prevention and response. Toolkits bring related resources together in one place so members can more easily apply guidance within their programs, organizations, and communities.
Basic Technical Assistance: Get individualized guidance from The Alliance on specific questions related to sexual violence prevention and response. Basic technical assistance may include help identifying appropriate resources and referrals, locating relevant information, or understanding and clarifying policies and regulations that affect your work.
Intensive Technical Assistance: Receive more in-depth, individualized support to strengthen your organization or program. Intensive technical assistance may include organizational or program development, capacity building, and support translating policies, regulations, or requirements into effective organizational practices and procedures.
Foundational-Level Trainings: Build essential knowledge and skills through trainings covering foundational concepts and practices in sexual violence prevention and response. These learning opportunities are designed to strengthen participants’ understanding of core topics and provide a strong foundation for effective, survivor-centered work.
40-Hour Rape Crisis Counselor Certification*: Free for members, fee-based for non-members. Participate in the comprehensive training required to prepare rape crisis counselors to support survivors of sexual violence. The 40-hour certification training builds essential knowledge and skills related to survivor-centered advocacy, crisis intervention, sexual violence, trauma, and the responsibilities of rape crisis counselors.
Regional Meetings*: Connect with rape crisis programs, allied organizations, professionals, and partners in your region through meetings designed to strengthen local relationships and information sharing. Regional meetings create opportunities to discuss emerging needs, share updates and resources, identify common challenges, and strengthen collaboration across neighboring communities.
Advanced-Level Trainings: Deepen existing knowledge and strengthen specialized skills through trainings designed for professionals who already have foundational experience in sexual violence prevention and response. Advanced trainings provide opportunities to explore complex topics, emerging practices, and specialized areas of the field in greater depth.
Leadership Development Trainings: Strengthen the knowledge and skills needed to lead effective, sustainable organizations and programs. Leadership development opportunities support current and emerging leaders in areas relevant to managing teams, strengthening programs, navigating organizational challenges, and building capacity to advance their mission.
Skills Labs & Applied Practice Sessions*: Move from learning to application through interactive sessions focused on practicing specific skills and approaches. Skills labs provide structured opportunities to apply concepts, work through realistic scenarios, receive guidance, and build confidence using new skills in participants’ day-to-day work.
Dedicated Listservs*: Connect and exchange information with peers through dedicated email groups organized around relevant roles, topics, or areas of practice. Listservs provide members with an ongoing way to ask questions, share resources and information, discuss emerging issues, and learn from colleagues across the state.
Communities of Practice & Affinity Spaces*: Participate in ongoing peer learning and connection with people who share a professional role, area of practice, experience, or other common focus. These spaces provide opportunities to exchange ideas and resources, discuss challenges, learn from one another, and strengthen relationships across the field.
Member Networking Opportunities*: Build relationships with professionals and organizations working to prevent sexual violence and support survivors across New York State. Networking opportunities help members connect with peers, exchange knowledge and ideas, identify potential partners, and strengthen collaboration across programs, organizations, and communities.
Member-Only Events*: Participate in events created specifically for The Alliance’s membership. Member-only events provide dedicated opportunities for learning, connection, collaboration, and engagement with The Alliance and fellow members beyond programming available to the broader public.
Voting Rights & Governance Participation: Have a voice in the leadership and direction of The Alliance through formal governance participation. Eligible members can exercise voting rights, including voting in Board elections, and participate in other governance matters as defined by The Alliance’s bylaws and membership structure.
Recognition as a Member Organization: Demonstrate your organization’s connection to New York State’s statewide sexual violence coalition through recognition as a member of The Alliance. Member organizations may identify themselves as Alliance members and receive recognition through applicable Alliance communications, materials, or member listings.
Priority Registration for Limited-Capacity Trainings & Events: Receive early or priority access to registration for eligible trainings, events, and learning opportunities with limited space. Priority registration gives members an earlier opportunity to secure a spot before remaining capacity is made available more broadly.
Priority Placement on Waitlists: Receive priority consideration when space becomes available for eligible trainings or events that have reached capacity. When openings occur, members with this benefit are given priority on applicable waitlists before registration is offered more broadly.

For organizations that are not New York State-certified rape crisis programs but whose work aligns with The Alliance’s mission and supports survivors, sexual violence prevention, or related community needs. Associate membership provides opportunities to access resources, participate in select trainings and events, build connections across the field, and engage more closely with The Alliance.
