Our Work
We are New York’s only statewide sexual violence coalition. The Alliance trains professionals, builds capacity, and advocates for resources — so that rape crisis programs can focus on what they do best: serving survivors and making communities safer.
About Our Work
As New York’s only sexual violence coalition, we bring together organizations and professionals working to prevent sexual violence and support survivors across the state. Our membership model creates opportunities for organizations to deepen their connection to the coalition and to one another.
Our work reaches across the sexual violence sector — bringing people and organizations together, sharing knowledge and expertise, identifying common challenges, and building collective priorities. The Alliance serves as the connective tissue of our field, helping people and organizations learn from one another and work together to prevent sexual violence and better support survivors.
Because we work across community-based organizations, government agencies, and the systems and institutions that shape how sexual violence is prevented and addressed, we have a perspective no single organization can have on its own. We can see patterns across the field, understand how decisions in one part affect another, and turn that broader view into collective action.
Training & Technical Assistance
The Alliance Against Sexual Violence (The Alliance) equips healthcare professionals, campus communities, survivor-serving organizations, and allies with the training and support they need to respond to sexual violence with confidence, compassion, and cultural responsiveness.
Policy Advocacy & Legislative Priorities
In an effort to more effectively prevent sexual violence and address the needs of survivors of sexual violence in New York City, the Alliance works to advance policy change on the city, state, and federal levels. Check back this fall for our full legislative and budget agendas.
Prevention Programs
The Alliance Against Sexual Violence works alongside young people, educators, community members, and local partners to prevent sexual violence.
Research
The Alliance Against Sexual Violence (The Alliance) conducts and publishes pioneering research on the state of sexual violence across New York, identifying where gaps in services exist and who is most impacted. We use these findings to inform our advocacy, strengthen the organizations we support, and hold systems accountable.
