Mapping Sexual Violence in New York City

In 2024, The Alliance completed a multi-year mapping project that pinpointed gaps in New York City’s sexual violence response system. Data analysis revealed what survivors and the organizations that serve them have experienced for years: the biggest gaps in services exist in communities experiencing the highest rates of sexual violence, oftentimes in outer boroughs and low-income communities of color.

Building a Coordinated Prevention Infrastructure for Sexual Violence in New York City

Sexual violence prevention remains a critical yet under-resourced component of New York City’s approach to addressing sexual violence. While New York State has made meaningful advances in survivor services, forensic care, and crisis response infrastructure, prevention efforts to target the root causes of violence have not received comparable attention or investment. As a result, prevention programs operate within fragmented systems, limited guidance, and constrained capacity.
